I was lucky enough a few years ago to qualify for the loft insulation the source pump along with some new radiators also I had the internal insulation and solar panels. I was told by the insulation teem would do one room at a time as to minimise the disorder. However when the first term turned up they said they couldn’t do one room at a time because they wouldn’t get the whole job done inside the days they were here and would not get there bonus. It was total chaos. They never covered anything apart from some plastic on the carpet. I had to virtually empty the rooms as best I could so they could work round it. The dust and mess was horrendous. Don’t get me wrong the two guys worked flat out every day and were pleasent enough. Unfortunately the end product they left was pathetic. The plastering was terrible. In one room I put a straight edge against the wall from top to bottom and then fit my fingers between the wall and the straight edge in the middle. The angles around the windows in all the rooms were ridiculousy out and in some cases there was literally no frame of the window left as they had just gone over what was there originally. Also by one of the guys own admission was not qualified as an electrician butt continued to extend the wires on the sockets and switches. I still have switches that don’t work now if it rains the electric goes off. So with regards to the first stage of the job it’s a complete balls up. So the second part of this bodge job was the loft insulation teem. On the day they turned up it was raining heavily they just stormed in went upstairs and into the loft. I had previously emptied the loft as best I could. It was also completely boarded out. So up they went took all my boards up and took them outside in the rain. So they installed the new insulation. My boards were not put back but left outside in the rain. Also the van which they turned up in was emptied obviously from a previous job and along with my old insulation dumped in my front garden. I physically had about 3 inches at the top of my front window left to see out of and was told that it would be collected within the next two weeks. Totally unacceptable. Although my wife rang up complained at it was picked up the same day. So next we had the heating teem. Oh forgot to mention that the first who did stage one removed the radiators and extended the pipes and that the job was being done mid December. So we had virtually no heating. Right back to the heating guys. What can I say two guys who were very nice started the job. They ripped out the boiler and started getting the pipes laid out for the source pump and all cylinders. By the way I was not asked where I wanted these cylinders or the source pump. I now literally have half a garage left. The radiators were not the same size as the old ones which I could live with but the pipes were just extended. None were put under the floorboards so now there are these ugly copper pipes running along the walls. Again not acceptable in My book. If I knew that was the way they were doing it I would’ve pulled up the flooring myself. So now it’s about 5 days till Christmas and quite cold. We’ve had no heating or hot water for two days. And a source pump that had not been delivered because there manager forgot to order it. What a total balls up. Oh and then one evening there was a knock on the door and it was the heating guys who were dropping off stuff so as the source pump could be fitted the next day by anther couple of workers. If they hadn’t dropped of the bits it would have been another day without heating or hot water. So now as I said I half half a garage taken up by the cylinders. Holes in the frame where they had drilled in the wrong places. The flooring inside the garage has been burned and solder left melted to it. also we can’t use the washing machine because it trips the electric because the 13amp socket is where they wired the source pump to. Which I was told by a couple of independent electricians highly dangerous. We also have horrible switches on show for the solar panels

just take them to the small claims court,like I did and won it's the only way to get any satisfaction

Heat pump, Solar, cavity wall insulation & loft insulation all installed September 2024 as part of the govt. funded scheme, all done very quickly, home fuse not upgraded before them installing the solar got me a telling off from Powergrid when they noticed seals had been cut off & not replaced (they apply for the fuse to be upgraded retrospectively which left my home electricity supply without adequate protection) heat pump fitted blocking my front path (they did offer to widen the path but in my unhappy state I didnt immediately take this up & they consequently blocked my number so I couldn't further my complaint) after many attempts calling witholding my number a senior Engineer called, listened to my complaint then blocked me. They also removed a valve on the outside heat pump pipe which was not closing & repiped it with a 'U' shaped piece of pipe which has never been replaced. They did return for rectification work to increase the size of the heat pump pipes & when I explained i couldn't stay at the address all day they said ti just rebook with the office as they were working in my area, this was never followed up despite me calling several times, is my installation even complient?! All I want is the rectification work completed & be able to have the system serviced, great that the work was done quickly & free of charge however customer serviceeads a lot to be desired.

Excellent job done by Borthwick on roof & wall insulation both completed in a day without any fuss, good friendly staff who did the job

Nothing wrong with the cavity wall insulation but Oak Electrics turned up too late to fit fans and window vents on the first appointment so couldn’t fit them and the second appointment didn’t turn up at all due to staff sickness which resulted in 2 days annual leave wasted
