Always a superb service, and I've been with them for years. Once or twice I've made the mistake of trying cheaper plumbers and I always return to Acorn because you're in consistently safe and expert hands with them.

I needed a new boiler and got 3 quotes. Acorn were the cheapest by far. One factor was the kW of the boiler being lower than the other companies. After much discussion (Alex was knowledgeable and very patient). Went with Acorn who did a faultless install. This was last November. The boiler has functioned well and heated the house very adequately even though it is a lower kW. So a cheaper install and lower ongoing costs. Thanks to Acorn for a superb job!

Acorn plumbing have been our plumbers for over a decade since Alex fitted our new boiler over 13 years ago. The boiler has performed faultlessly since that time. Acorn plumbing have helped us countless times over the last decade. Most recently in the last few years, during the pandemic, when our water tank in the loft developed a crack and started leaking they moved heaven and earth to help us in what was very difficult circumstances. When we developed a leak in our kitchen roof, they were able to quickly trace the source and fix the problem. When we had a friend in her late 80’s came to stay with us after her pacemaker was fitted and our radiator in her room stopped working, Alex made time in a frantically busy day to repair the radiator. Most recently, when our heating stopped working, Catherine calmly talked us through what we needed to check and enabled us to swiftly figure out that the gas supply to our house had been switched off and we were able to immediately contact our gas supplier. In a world where it’s rare to be able to phone and speak to a real human who also has the resources to try and help you or point you the right direction they’re an absolute god-send. They turn up when they say they will, they’re clean, tidy, polite and a pleasure to have in the house. I honestly couldn’t recommend them enough. They are busy with good reason. All the locals and their customers know how good they are.

The service we have received from Acorn Plumbing has been fantastic! With no heating or hot water I called Acorn. I was assured someone would get out to me that morning and their engineer Alex arrived at the time given. He identified our problem and was able to provide a competitive quote and install a new boiler all within 24hours. The team were all very friendly, professional and the service extremely efficient. I would highly recommend this local business & I will most definitely make then my first choice for any future plumbing or heating issues.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know you’re properly qualified and certified to install heat pumps?

We are MCS‑certified and registered with an approved consumer protection/competent person scheme, which is essential for quality assurance and to access grants like the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS).

Can you tell me if a heat pump is actually suitable for my home?

We carry out a detailed home assessment, including property type, insulation levels, existing heating system and available outdoor space, to confirm whether a heat pump is a good fit.

What type and size of heat pump will you recommend for my property, and why?

We design the system using a heat‑loss calculation for your home, then match the correct kW size and model (for example, air‑source vs ground‑source) so it runs efficiently and reliably.

What will the full installation cost be, and what’s included in your quote?

Our fixed quote clearly lists the heat pump, cylinder, controls, labour, scaffolding (if needed), electrical work and any radiator or pipework upgrades, so you know exactly what you’re paying for.

Can you help me access government grants like the Boiler Upgrade Scheme?

Yes, as an MCS installer we can confirm your eligibility, apply for the BUS grant (worth up to £7,500) on your behalf and deduct it directly from your quote.

How much disruption should I expect during installation, and how long does it take?

A typical air‑source heat pump installation takes around 2–5 days, and we’ll agree locations for the indoor and outdoor units, manage any planning considerations and keep you informed each day.

Will I need to replace my radiators or upgrade anything else in my home?

After the heat‑loss survey, we’ll advise if any radiators, pipework, electrics or hot‑water cylinder need upgrading so the system can run efficiently at lower flow temperatures.

How noisy is the outdoor unit and where will it be installed?

Modern heat pumps are designed to be quiet and must meet UK noise regulations; we’ll position the unit to minimise any impact on you and your neighbours and comply with local planning rules.

What warranties, servicing and aftercare do you provide?

You’ll get manufacturer warranties on the heat pump plus our workmanship guarantee, and we offer ongoing servicing and support to keep your system performing at its best.

What running costs and savings can I realistically expect compared to my current boiler?

We’ll estimate your likely annual running costs and potential savings based on your current fuel type, insulation level and tariffs, using real‑world performance data rather than lab figures.
