Extremely Disappointed — Poor Service, Poor Communication, and Zero Accountability My husband and I had Dalton Heating and Cooling come out for two separate issues: our water heater and our furnace. Unfortunately, both experiences were incredibly frustrating and left us with serious concerns about the quality of their work and their customer service. For the water heater, Dalton sent out three workers. They diagnosed a small leak, “fixed it,” and were out the door in under 10 minutes. That would have been fine if the issue had actually been resolved — but as the week went on, we continued to have a large pool of water in the exact same spot. After several days, we called Dalton back and explained that we believed we needed a new water heater. This time they sent two workers: one who had been there earlier in the week and another who was seeing the issue for the first time. Within seconds, the new worker took one look and said, “Oh yeah, you definitely need a new water heater.” It’s extremely concerning that three workers earlier in the week couldn’t identify what this second worker recognized immediately. When you pay for professional service, you expect a thorough investigation — not a rushed, inaccurate assessment that leaves you with the same problem you started with. For our furnace, Dalton sent a technician who was very kind but needed to call in backup to help diagnose the issue (which we had no problem with). After the additional worker arrived, they were able to get the furnace running but warned us that the heat might be intermittent due to a part they believed needed to be replaced. They recommended we purchase this expensive part and have it installed later in the week. We bought the part that same day and were prepared to move forward — but the furnace never had another issue. We called Dalton to let them know we no longer needed the repair and asked them to be reimbursed for the unnecessary part. Since then, my husband has called at least six times. Each time, he gets the same employee who says the manager will call him back. Not once has anyone returned our call. We also requested statements and quotes for the services performed and were told they would be emailed to us. We received nothing. The lack of communication, follow through, and accountability has been astonishing. Customer service is atrocious. We are extremely disappointed and will not be using Dalton again. Save yourself the headache and look elsewhere for your heating and cooling needs.

I had no heat in my furnace, so I called Dalton to come out to take a look at it. They arrived a couple hours after I called and got me running. The technicians were very knowledgeable and got it fixed quickly. They were also incredibly friendly and explained the best options available. I also asked about adding heat to my basement and they provided a quote right then and I was able to get my basement heated within a couple of days. Great company and people! Highly recommend!

Dalton just completed an install of six (heating and cooling) mini splits at my house. The equipment is excellent and the installation was fast, clean and on schedule. No mess whatsoever, and attention to aesthetic was impressive. The team walked me through operation and they worked within my budget. Definitely recommend.

Brad was GREAT! Gave very helpful tips for keeping my furnace and water pipes working well. He explained things as he continued to clean and look over my furnace and all! Definitely appreciate all Brad did and how professional yet friendly he was!

Initially I thought Dalton was amazing. Their service tech seemed to care & was friendly. A emergency service call and replacement circuit board with installation was over $1000. The next day I was told the price was actually another $250 but since it was the techs error the company would cover it. Had to have them.back out the next day as furnace wasn't functioning properly. Tech said he fixed it but discover a gas leak & he could fix it fir $690. Sounded crazy high. I contacted CF Utilities that came out & verified their was NO leak. So...I did some research on the circuit board...a competitor quoted me $450 LESS than the price Dalton charges. RUN...do NOT use Daltons. They are unethical!

Frequently asked questions

How do I know you’re properly qualified and certified to install heat pumps?

We are MCS‑certified and registered with an approved consumer protection/competent person scheme, which is essential for quality assurance and to access grants like the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS).

Can you tell me if a heat pump is actually suitable for my home?

We carry out a detailed home assessment, including property type, insulation levels, existing heating system and available outdoor space, to confirm whether a heat pump is a good fit.

What type and size of heat pump will you recommend for my property, and why?

We design the system using a heat‑loss calculation for your home, then match the correct kW size and model (for example, air‑source vs ground‑source) so it runs efficiently and reliably.

What will the full installation cost be, and what’s included in your quote?

Our fixed quote clearly lists the heat pump, cylinder, controls, labour, scaffolding (if needed), electrical work and any radiator or pipework upgrades, so you know exactly what you’re paying for.

Can you help me access government grants like the Boiler Upgrade Scheme?

Yes, as an MCS installer we can confirm your eligibility, apply for the BUS grant (worth up to £7,500) on your behalf and deduct it directly from your quote.

How much disruption should I expect during installation, and how long does it take?

A typical air‑source heat pump installation takes around 2–5 days, and we’ll agree locations for the indoor and outdoor units, manage any planning considerations and keep you informed each day.

Will I need to replace my radiators or upgrade anything else in my home?

After the heat‑loss survey, we’ll advise if any radiators, pipework, electrics or hot‑water cylinder need upgrading so the system can run efficiently at lower flow temperatures.

How noisy is the outdoor unit and where will it be installed?

Modern heat pumps are designed to be quiet and must meet UK noise regulations; we’ll position the unit to minimise any impact on you and your neighbours and comply with local planning rules.

What warranties, servicing and aftercare do you provide?

You’ll get manufacturer warranties on the heat pump plus our workmanship guarantee, and we offer ongoing servicing and support to keep your system performing at its best.

What running costs and savings can I realistically expect compared to my current boiler?

We’ll estimate your likely annual running costs and potential savings based on your current fuel type, insulation level and tariffs, using real‑world performance data rather than lab figures.
