Gas boiler service Cancelled on day of originally booking due to staff shortage, rescheduled for 1 week later. Engineer arrived at 3:30pm, left boiler with leaking drip. No out of hours support, another engineer returned next day at 3:30pm. Boiler then gushing water overnight, where different engineer call out was needed (£50). Very annoyed at the water damage to kitchen requiring cabinet repairs. Richard Dougherty Antrim

Unprofessional company do not use them. I was left two weeks with no heating or hot water, charged £90 for call out fee then told if engineer arrives after 5pm I would be charged an extra £75 of course they will be late!!!!! Job never completed!!!!

I am a Housing Executive tenant and a job was arranged with the h.exe and this company for a leak coming through my living room ceiling. Disgusted is an understatement with the disrespect in the way two engineers from H&A Group treated my home. These engineers left my bathroom floor, spare room floor, landing area, stairs, front hall area and outside my property in a complete filthy mess with not even having to decency to even attempt to clean their mess up after them or to even tell me what mess that they had left for me to clean up before leaving my home. My bathroom sink was left black with dirt and outside my property was left with dirty smelly water after draining the water system. The main concern for this company is that their engineers had not only taken a bathroom towel from my bathroom but also decided to go directly into my boiler room and take four other bathroom towels (including one which had been a gift in which I had for over 15 years) without my permission and left my home with all 5 towels in their possession. I only realised this when I required a towel later that afternoon. A complete botched cowboy job and also thieves from this company. I honestly don't know how the Housing Executive has awarded a contract to H&A Group. I wonder if they'd like to have this disgust carried out in their home(s)... gangsters!!! BEWARE OF H&A GROUP! ZERO STARS NEVERMIND THE ONE!

Booked gas boiler service, 5:30pm the day before got a phone call saying they had to call with somebody with no heat and had to re-arrange to today between 1pm & 5pm. phoned at 4pm to enquire what time service engineer was due. Rang back to say..... guess what" had to call with somebody who had no heat". I had taken the afternoon off work to wait... I ended call after hearing the same pre-rehearsed excuse. Got a text "again I apologise for today - I have refunded your payment.... Avoid this company, useless

My experience of using H&A mechanical services has been: 1. Highly satisfied with the work done servicing both my OFCH boiler and my unvented water boiler. 2. Reasonably happy with costs 3. Not satisfied with the communication and the invoicing process. I have made use of H&A on two occasions and both times I had to ring the administration a few weeks after the work is completed to say that I had not been invoiced for the work and that I had not received certificates for the work under taken, which is now required as evidence for my home insurance. I feel this could be improved. All good business's should flow from the initial inquiry through to agreed prices and date(s) for the work to commence. Finally, followup of invoice and certificates provided, Many thanks

Frequently asked questions

How do I know you’re properly qualified and certified to install heat pumps?

We are MCS‑certified and registered with an approved consumer protection/competent person scheme, which is essential for quality assurance and to access grants like the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS).

Can you tell me if a heat pump is actually suitable for my home?

We carry out a detailed home assessment, including property type, insulation levels, existing heating system and available outdoor space, to confirm whether a heat pump is a good fit.

What type and size of heat pump will you recommend for my property, and why?

We design the system using a heat‑loss calculation for your home, then match the correct kW size and model (for example, air‑source vs ground‑source) so it runs efficiently and reliably.

What will the full installation cost be, and what’s included in your quote?

Our fixed quote clearly lists the heat pump, cylinder, controls, labour, scaffolding (if needed), electrical work and any radiator or pipework upgrades, so you know exactly what you’re paying for.

Can you help me access government grants like the Boiler Upgrade Scheme?

Yes, as an MCS installer we can confirm your eligibility, apply for the BUS grant (worth up to £7,500) on your behalf and deduct it directly from your quote.

How much disruption should I expect during installation, and how long does it take?

A typical air‑source heat pump installation takes around 2–5 days, and we’ll agree locations for the indoor and outdoor units, manage any planning considerations and keep you informed each day.

Will I need to replace my radiators or upgrade anything else in my home?

After the heat‑loss survey, we’ll advise if any radiators, pipework, electrics or hot‑water cylinder need upgrading so the system can run efficiently at lower flow temperatures.

How noisy is the outdoor unit and where will it be installed?

Modern heat pumps are designed to be quiet and must meet UK noise regulations; we’ll position the unit to minimise any impact on you and your neighbours and comply with local planning rules.

What warranties, servicing and aftercare do you provide?

You’ll get manufacturer warranties on the heat pump plus our workmanship guarantee, and we offer ongoing servicing and support to keep your system performing at its best.

What running costs and savings can I realistically expect compared to my current boiler?

We’ll estimate your likely annual running costs and potential savings based on your current fuel type, insulation level and tariffs, using real‑world performance data rather than lab figures.
