My old LPG combi boiler was reaching the end of its life, and when the government increased the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant to £9,000 for oil and LPG properties (until March 2027), I decided it was the right moment to switch to an air‑source heat pump. I initially went through four companies (including Octopus Energy), but every one of them carried out their “technical survey” purely to satisfy the BUS grant paperwork, when I asked technical questions, they either ignored them or stated that they don't consider those technicalities. None of them approached the job with real engineering design or proper hydronic principles. It’s no surprise so many people complain about poor performance — these companies follow templates, not engineering. Thankfully, I found a company that works entirely from true engineering fundamentals. They were open and thouroughout the design phase and logistics. My installation was completed today — two days, start to finish — fully commissioned and working perfectly. John and Jack, the plumbing engineers, and Callum, the electrician, are outstanding professionals: genuine engineers who know their trade and even clean up properly afterwards. Kyle, one of the directors at My Air Source Company and my point of contact throughout, has been excellent — attentive, thorough, and focused on every detail, large and small. I can’t praise this company enough. If you’re considering a heat pump, don’t waste time with run‑of‑the‑mill plumbers who do basic BUS‑template installs. Go to the people who understand the theory, the hydronics, and the engineering behind how a heat pump actually works — My Air Source Company certainly do, and they would be an excellent choice wherever you are in the country.
