We have had the misfortune to be living next door to a domestic building site run by this company, for over three and a half years. Twice as long as the contractor promised. On their website and signage they state that they pride themselves on being responsible and considerate builders. Nothing could be further from the truth. We have endured years of excessive noise and dust pollution ( beyond what would be expected of a building site), been showered in red hot sparks and witnessed numerous, dangerous breaches of health and safety regulations. They don't even care for their own workforce. All of the numerous complaints we made to the workmen, the site foreman and eventually Head Office, resulted in verbal abuse or promises but no change. Head Office never even returned our calls. I feel sympathy for anyone who has this firm working nearby. This review first appeared under Motacus Builders Merchants who asked that it be removed as they had nothing to do with Motacus Constructions Ltd. I do note however that Companies House lists Marius Motac and Peter ( Petru) Motac as directors of both companies. Draw your own conclusions.

READ THIS FIRST!!! Cost me money, reputation and client!!! Look elsewhere for good professional services!!! Ordered a solid oak board from these guys back in November 2018 and was very happy with a 2500x1000x44mm board. Good finish and cost me £350. Within a month I asked them to make me another one. Price went to £500. Negotiated down to £450. They said they did first one cheaper to draw me in. Maybe in Romania things are done that way but here in UK we rely on stability and transparency in relationship with suppliers. Second board was done just after New Year. I wasn’t impressed with the result as it had split ends and very poor surface glue joints. The cracks and glue lines were later filled and surfaces sanded down so looked not great but acceptable. I needed boards for my clients’ project with CNC machine. First board was engraved only to 7mm so was fine but second had to be worked down to 18mm below surface and exposed cheap joining biscuits with incredibly poor glue lines where I would not lie to estimate that 20-30% of glue lines had no glue. In the process of CNC machining for 3,5 days non-stop the board curled up and edges lifted by 10mm. I tried to deal with the salesperson to get this rectified but he only wasted 2 weeks of my time promising to get back “tomorrow”. Then boss was away for a week and a half, then it took another week to get to see him. Meantime, my client chewed my ears off for me letting them down with their project and went elsewhere. When talking to the boss, Peter, he said that they stick to very old fashion way of including a spline biscuit to make structure stronger, to which I said that modern glue like Titebond II offers stronger joining integrity than wood itself and if you use spline, why did you not use the same material to make it seamless but cheap alternative material as you can see in picture and also why do the glue joints have no glue in them. They said that I should not have used the CNC on the board… I specifically told them I needed boards for CNC machining. From depth of 44mm board I intended to remove 18mm, leaving 26mm in depth at lowest point. As machining went on for 3,5 days and the board curled up, extra 10mm was taken out towards edges. Basically, they refused to take any liability and told me to go away: “We don’t want clients like this”, clients who complain … As far as material, I found Motacus on eBay where they sell cubic meter of oak for £1300. My board in volume at 2500x1000x44mm is only 0.1. So, for them to rectify the obvious mistake is nothing but they would rather blame you for their own very poor job, let you down and let your client down. Images speak for themselves AVOID IF YOU DON’T WANT TO BE DISAPPOINTED!!!

Frequently asked questions

How do I know you’re properly qualified and certified to install heat pumps?

We are MCS‑certified and registered with an approved consumer protection/competent person scheme, which is essential for quality assurance and to access grants like the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS).

Can you tell me if a heat pump is actually suitable for my home?

We carry out a detailed home assessment, including property type, insulation levels, existing heating system and available outdoor space, to confirm whether a heat pump is a good fit.

What type and size of heat pump will you recommend for my property, and why?

We design the system using a heat‑loss calculation for your home, then match the correct kW size and model (for example, air‑source vs ground‑source) so it runs efficiently and reliably.

What will the full installation cost be, and what’s included in your quote?

Our fixed quote clearly lists the heat pump, cylinder, controls, labour, scaffolding (if needed), electrical work and any radiator or pipework upgrades, so you know exactly what you’re paying for.

Can you help me access government grants like the Boiler Upgrade Scheme?

Yes, as an MCS installer we can confirm your eligibility, apply for the BUS grant (worth up to £7,500) on your behalf and deduct it directly from your quote.

How much disruption should I expect during installation, and how long does it take?

A typical air‑source heat pump installation takes around 2–5 days, and we’ll agree locations for the indoor and outdoor units, manage any planning considerations and keep you informed each day.

Will I need to replace my radiators or upgrade anything else in my home?

After the heat‑loss survey, we’ll advise if any radiators, pipework, electrics or hot‑water cylinder need upgrading so the system can run efficiently at lower flow temperatures.

How noisy is the outdoor unit and where will it be installed?

Modern heat pumps are designed to be quiet and must meet UK noise regulations; we’ll position the unit to minimise any impact on you and your neighbours and comply with local planning rules.

What warranties, servicing and aftercare do you provide?

You’ll get manufacturer warranties on the heat pump plus our workmanship guarantee, and we offer ongoing servicing and support to keep your system performing at its best.

What running costs and savings can I realistically expect compared to my current boiler?

We’ll estimate your likely annual running costs and potential savings based on your current fuel type, insulation level and tariffs, using real‑world performance data rather than lab figures.
