I have used this company for a while and most of the engineers are fine. One of them caused issues with my boiler twice. The first time time he caused my magnetic filter to leak which i had to repair with new seals and didn't even let the company know. The second, just recently he serviced the boiler and fitted new electrodes. Something he has done has then caused a delayed ignition on the boiler which makes it bang when ingiting. This has got slowly worse since the service a few weeks ago and i had zero issues before this. Buttco want to charge me a call out fee even though the problem was caused by this engineer. Initially i thought the noise was just the new better electrodes as of course I am no expert, hence why I didn't call initially. The noise has since got worse to the point I realise that it's not normal. I do not think a company should treat a customer of many years like this when they have caused this issue to my boiler, which was fine before. Buttco can now go and ram it and I will go elsewhere as I have completely lost faith in them. Poor unsympathetic customer service from the lady on the phone, maybe get another job if you do not want to speak to members of the public. I would have zero issue paying a call-out fee if it was not directly connected to their attendance.
Have been with Butco just over 40 years now and quite honestly would not use anyone else. We have had a new bathroom fitted and the plumber who did it went away without checking the system was working. I called Butco in and Tim the engineer came and spent 2 hours putting it right. He wouldn't leave until it was working properly. I had to pay for that visit which I was happy to do. Tim noticed the pump was old and noisy so said he would order a new one which would come under the service contract. He came back and fitted that and he did a great job. I would recommend having a service contract as over the years we have benefitted from it and it pays for itself.
After a boiler breakdown Simon attended promptly, he was polite and thorough in diagnosing the issue, parts were ordered and fitted at my convenience, an expensive repair covered by my Butco Care Plan, first class communication and on site attendance, happy to maintain my relationship with this company.
