It's always difficult to find reliable tradesmen and you always hear horror stories from friends and family. However, I'm very pleased that I ended up selecting Chalmers & Son to renovate our two bathrooms and install an outside garden tap. The owner, Luke, visited our house on two separate occasions and examined our needs while making helpful suggestions of his own. We even had a leaking pipe that he fixed there and then on the spot at no charge, which was very gracious of him. The quote was very reasonably price and, best of all, the man he sent to work in our home over a period of a week was brilliant. Tom took pride in his work, left everything neat and tidy, and was a consummate professional with a friendly personality and was even great with the kids too. I highly recommend this company and would gladly give them repeat business for any future plumbing work.

A couple of months ago, Jordan, from Chalmers and Son, plumbed in a temporary kitchen for us. His work was of a very high standard. His intelligent approach to what we needed means that everything works beautifully. The installation was neat and tidy and he really respected our property. I could not possibly recommend Chalmers and Son more highly. We will certainly use them again.

We have used Luke for a few projects now and have been pleased every time. Luke will go through what you want, what you need, what is realistic given your budget and room size and layout etc. Super helpful when you have an idea of what you like, but just need a bit of help working out what it will look like when it’s done. A high standard of work from him and Jordan on each job they have done for us.

Very professional , knowledgable and friendly team. Transformed our bathroom. Excellent workmanship throughout the project. Highly Recommended

If I could give 0 stars that would be the rating for this terrible company, chucked waste all over our garden, installed incorrect equipment, shoddy work, leaks, wrecked our garden, I really could go on and on. Disrespectful, incompetent, poor workmanship. Avoid

We are MCS‑certified and registered with an approved consumer protection/competent person scheme, which is essential for quality assurance and to access grants like the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS).
We carry out a detailed home assessment, including property type, insulation levels, existing heating system and available outdoor space, to confirm whether a heat pump is a good fit.
We design the system using a heat‑loss calculation for your home, then match the correct kW size and model (for example, air‑source vs ground‑source) so it runs efficiently and reliably.
Our fixed quote clearly lists the heat pump, cylinder, controls, labour, scaffolding (if needed), electrical work and any radiator or pipework upgrades, so you know exactly what you’re paying for.
Yes, as an MCS installer we can confirm your eligibility, apply for the BUS grant (worth up to £7,500) on your behalf and deduct it directly from your quote.
A typical air‑source heat pump installation takes around 2–5 days, and we’ll agree locations for the indoor and outdoor units, manage any planning considerations and keep you informed each day.
After the heat‑loss survey, we’ll advise if any radiators, pipework, electrics or hot‑water cylinder need upgrading so the system can run efficiently at lower flow temperatures.
Modern heat pumps are designed to be quiet and must meet UK noise regulations; we’ll position the unit to minimise any impact on you and your neighbours and comply with local planning rules.
You’ll get manufacturer warranties on the heat pump plus our workmanship guarantee, and we offer ongoing servicing and support to keep your system performing at its best.
We’ll estimate your likely annual running costs and potential savings based on your current fuel type, insulation level and tariffs, using real‑world performance data rather than lab figures.
