I would strongly advise anyone considering GESS Limited, trading as Green Eco Solar Solutions, to think very carefully before going ahead. I used GESS after Octopus Energy directed me to them for a solar and battery installation. What was quoted as a two day job took around three weeks. My property is Grade II listed, so planning was critical. GESS produced inaccurate drawings, then mismeasured the roof by around 500mm. Their planned 28 panel system would not fit and had to be reduced to 26 panels. The panels were then installed hard against the roof ridge, despite concerns raised by the council's heritage officer. GESS later told the council the panels were not against the ridge. They are. I was then left with a smaller system than contracted for and without confirmed planning approval for what had actually been installed. During the work, GESS also drilled through my mains water pipe. On another occasion, I was told the solar system was live and working when it was not generating at all. Even at final handover, two of the three solar strings were not working. GESS did not discover this. I did. An engineer had to return and rewire the system. So my experience included: Inaccurate planning drawings. A major survey measurement error. A reduced solar system. Ongoing planning issues. A damaged mains water pipe. Being told the system was working when it was not. Two out of three solar strings not working at handover. A two day installation taking around three weeks. Poor behaviour from members of the team on site. For a system costing around £18,000, this was nowhere near the standard I expected from an MCS certified and RECC registered installer. I have retained the planning documents, measurements, photographs, council correspondence and installation records. Based on my experience, I could not recommend GESS Limited.

GESS Solar Installation From the very first consultation through to the installation, the service was outstanding. Harrison was incredibly knowledgeable and took the time to explain everything clearly, providing expert advice during the initial consultation and site survey. He answered all of my questions honestly and helped me make informed decisions without any pressure. The installation engineers were equally impressive. They were friendly, professional, punctual, and worked efficiently while keeping everything neat and tidy. It was clear they took pride in their work, and the quality of the installation reflects that. Overall, a fantastic experience from start to finish. I would highly recommend this company to anyone considering a solar panel installation.

From start to finish, GESS Limited have been outstanding. Ian’s quick response set the tone — fast, clear, and genuinely helpful. The quote arrived almost immediately, and the professionalism of the team arranging the DNO approval was first‑class. Everything was handled smoothly and without any stress on my side. They even found me an early slot for both the initial technical assessment (a very thorough and reassuring inspection) and the installation itself, which was an absolute dream. The engineers were efficient, tidy, and clearly knew exactly what they were doing. I’m delighted with my new SolaX battery array. Since the sun started shining in March, I haven’t paid a penny for electricity at the expensive daytime rate. The batteries and my solar panels have worked together perfectly to keep the house running without daytime import. It’s been transformative. Highly recommended — a brilliant company delivering brilliant results.
