I recently had an ASHP and solar/battery system installed by JH Electrical, supported by EST funding, and I can confidently say I highly recommend this company. Quotation & Pricing I shopped around with five or six installers across the country. Several came out to survey the property, explain their service, and provide quotes. Jack’s quote was competitively priced — not the absolute cheapest, but considering the level of service and professionalism he demonstrated, it was the best-value option. A couple of the cheaper companies didn’t give me much confidence that the work would be completed on time or to a high standard, so Jack’s quote stood out and I accepted. Work on Site Work began around a month or so later. The main installation took about a week, with smaller jobs and snagging completed over the following week or two. Jack and his team were friendly, tidy, and respectful of our schedule, working efficiently regardless of the weather. There were some challenges, such as getting the tank into the attic, but they persevered and found solutions — all covered within the original quote. Finished Product The team delivered an exceptionally neat and tidy installation, and I’m really pleased with the results. They’ve done such a clean job that it’s now encouraging us to tidy up the rest of the garden! All of the technology is connected to smart apps, allowing me to easily configure heating and hot water settings to suit our family’s needs. Post-Installation Service As expected, adjusting to an ASHP after years of using a gas boiler takes a bit of time. I’ve had a few questions during the settling-in period, and Jack has responded promptly and courteously each time. He has also reassured us that if any issues arise in the future, he is more than happy to help or attend as needed — offering great peace of mind. Constructive Feedback Before installation, it sometimes took a couple of days for Jack to respond to certain queries. At the time this was a little challenging due to the planning we needed to do at home. I now understand this wasn’t due to a lack of professionalism but simply because JH Electrical is a relatively small, busy business that moves from job to job, and it genuinely takes a day or two to catch up with correspondence. It’s a minor point, but worth being aware of if you choose to proceed with them. Conclusion If you want renewable systems installed by a professional company that still feels local and trustworthy, JH Electrical is an excellent choice

I got Jack’s details from the Energy Savings Trust list of certified installers for solar panels and battery storage. Jack was quick to respond to my enquiry and kept the appointment to quote for the work. His price was competitive and although the installation date moved he was flexible on this. Jack was happy to discuss all questions and thought about the installation and best positioning of the units. He took the time needed to go through everything. Unlike other experiences of trades people he was good at communicating and the job was carried out efficiently with minimal impact on the household and no mess was left. Jack has also undertaken other domestic electrical work for me to the same standards. I would highly recommend without hesitation. UPDATE: The installation is generating significantly less energy than expected and having attempts at contacting the firm have been met with silence. One final email has been sent before I launch a formal complaint. Very disappointing when the sales and installation process was so smooth. UPDATE: Very happy to report that Jack has replaced the faulty optimiser causing the issue and the system is now generating way more power. The only reason I've not given the 5 stars is due to the significant time it has taken to get resolution.

Jack was prompt in advising and providing a competitive quote for solar panels and a battery. Installation was efficient and tidy with a neat finish. Explanation and help with setting up and monitoring the system have been very helpful. I am very happy to give him a 5 star review.

We had a solar panel system installed by Jack this summer. Was very impressed from the outset with his prompt and competitive quotation and timescale for the job. The work was carried out efficiently, and post installation instructions regarding operation were clear. It was good to have a knowledgeable local contractor and I would have the utmost confidence to recommend his services. Dr Robert Robertson

Jack's knowledge of solar and battery options was a huge help from the outset. Installation was done in time, within quoted price and no mess was left behind. He was even a big help in chasing down Givenergy when it became clear that the inverter provided had a manufacturer fault and needed replaced.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know you’re properly qualified and certified to install heat pumps?

We are MCS‑certified and registered with an approved consumer protection/competent person scheme, which is essential for quality assurance and to access grants like the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS).

Can you tell me if a heat pump is actually suitable for my home?

We carry out a detailed home assessment, including property type, insulation levels, existing heating system and available outdoor space, to confirm whether a heat pump is a good fit.

What type and size of heat pump will you recommend for my property, and why?

We design the system using a heat‑loss calculation for your home, then match the correct kW size and model (for example, air‑source vs ground‑source) so it runs efficiently and reliably.

What will the full installation cost be, and what’s included in your quote?

Our fixed quote clearly lists the heat pump, cylinder, controls, labour, scaffolding (if needed), electrical work and any radiator or pipework upgrades, so you know exactly what you’re paying for.

Can you help me access government grants like the Boiler Upgrade Scheme?

Yes, as an MCS installer we can confirm your eligibility, apply for the BUS grant (worth up to £7,500) on your behalf and deduct it directly from your quote.

How much disruption should I expect during installation, and how long does it take?

A typical air‑source heat pump installation takes around 2–5 days, and we’ll agree locations for the indoor and outdoor units, manage any planning considerations and keep you informed each day.

Will I need to replace my radiators or upgrade anything else in my home?

After the heat‑loss survey, we’ll advise if any radiators, pipework, electrics or hot‑water cylinder need upgrading so the system can run efficiently at lower flow temperatures.

How noisy is the outdoor unit and where will it be installed?

Modern heat pumps are designed to be quiet and must meet UK noise regulations; we’ll position the unit to minimise any impact on you and your neighbours and comply with local planning rules.

What warranties, servicing and aftercare do you provide?

You’ll get manufacturer warranties on the heat pump plus our workmanship guarantee, and we offer ongoing servicing and support to keep your system performing at its best.

What running costs and savings can I realistically expect compared to my current boiler?

We’ll estimate your likely annual running costs and potential savings based on your current fuel type, insulation level and tariffs, using real‑world performance data rather than lab figures.
