Do not trust your appointment with heat source. I arranged a relatively simple job with them which was on a long lead time due to Christmas - no issues there as I was prepared to wait as I read the other good reviews. When the day arrived, I was phoned in the morning to say my appointment has to be rescheduled as there was an emergency at a school. This was frustrating as I had taken the day off work for the appointment, but I appreciate things happen. I was told I would get a morning appointment on the rescheduled day. Fast forward to the rescheduled appointment, and by midday, I hear nothing. I phone them up and I'm told the engineer is at another job. Good customer service would probably be to prioritise me if I was cancelled before, but oh well. I was told I would be kept up to date with their whereabouts. By the end of the day, I heard nothing, I phoned up, and I'm told the engineer won't make it on that day. To summarise, two appointments missed, very poor proactive communication, and a clear terrible planning system on their end. Clearly their work must be decent based on the other reviews, but you may not find out with the rate they don't turn up to appointments.

My ancient gas boiler stopped working yesterday with outside temperatures below zero. I called and spoke to a charming lady called Dee who had a super, caring and friendly manner. She arranged for James to come the next morning and he imbued great confidence in fixing the fault. Despite my Gloworm boiler being over 40 years old, he confidently & skillfully brought it back from the dead. Being one of the partners, I was privileged to have someone come who obviously has so much experience and such a pleasant man. At my suggestion we agreed that I really need a new system and he is arranging a quotation with a " nothing is too much trouble" attitude. So...from the very first call to Dee through to the job being completed in super fast time, I have hot water and heating. Simply dont bother calling anyone else, The Heatsource Team is the business! Thank you everyone.

Still waiting for the final results to come through (will take our boiler some time to heat up the water) but had James round to take a look at our electric water cylinder as it wasn’t properly heating. James was fantastic - great to chat to, very helpful, quick to identify the potential issue and has said he will be fine to pop back round if the issue persists. Also, couldn’t have hoped for better communication from Dee and the office team around organising the appointment, which was seamless. As long as everything goes to plan I will definitely be using Heatsource again. Thank you to all the team!

James came out to have a look at our underfloor heating which had stopped working. He quickly diagnosed the issue, and put a temporary fix in place to get the heat back on while we wait for the new controller to be fitted. Helpful, polite and efficient which is everything you need when your house is freezing! Would definitely recommend.

Can not fault them, 5 star all the way. James came out and ensured I had heating and hot water before Christmas and today returned to complete the job, actually taking less time than quoted. Totally brilliant company, the office Dee responds quickly, as does the workforce.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know you’re properly qualified and certified to install heat pumps?

We are MCS‑certified and registered with an approved consumer protection/competent person scheme, which is essential for quality assurance and to access grants like the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS).

Can you tell me if a heat pump is actually suitable for my home?

We carry out a detailed home assessment, including property type, insulation levels, existing heating system and available outdoor space, to confirm whether a heat pump is a good fit.

What type and size of heat pump will you recommend for my property, and why?

We design the system using a heat‑loss calculation for your home, then match the correct kW size and model (for example, air‑source vs ground‑source) so it runs efficiently and reliably.

What will the full installation cost be, and what’s included in your quote?

Our fixed quote clearly lists the heat pump, cylinder, controls, labour, scaffolding (if needed), electrical work and any radiator or pipework upgrades, so you know exactly what you’re paying for.

Can you help me access government grants like the Boiler Upgrade Scheme?

Yes, as an MCS installer we can confirm your eligibility, apply for the BUS grant (worth up to £7,500) on your behalf and deduct it directly from your quote.

How much disruption should I expect during installation, and how long does it take?

A typical air‑source heat pump installation takes around 2–5 days, and we’ll agree locations for the indoor and outdoor units, manage any planning considerations and keep you informed each day.

Will I need to replace my radiators or upgrade anything else in my home?

After the heat‑loss survey, we’ll advise if any radiators, pipework, electrics or hot‑water cylinder need upgrading so the system can run efficiently at lower flow temperatures.

How noisy is the outdoor unit and where will it be installed?

Modern heat pumps are designed to be quiet and must meet UK noise regulations; we’ll position the unit to minimise any impact on you and your neighbours and comply with local planning rules.

What warranties, servicing and aftercare do you provide?

You’ll get manufacturer warranties on the heat pump plus our workmanship guarantee, and we offer ongoing servicing and support to keep your system performing at its best.

What running costs and savings can I realistically expect compared to my current boiler?

We’ll estimate your likely annual running costs and potential savings based on your current fuel type, insulation level and tariffs, using real‑world performance data rather than lab figures.
