We have had a fantastic experience with Amber Heating. Bob, Hellen, Arlo and the team were great from start to finish with our heat pump installation. Efficient, knowledgeable, always happy to take time to answer questions, easily contactable, very friendly and professional and they got us out of a very sticky situation with another firm. They were reassuring from day one, and we cannot recommend them enough.

Amber Heating installed our Ecoforest ground source heat pump in 2021. Bob had taken a great deal of time to explain all options open to us. Covid issues delayed the installation but when completed and all my internal plumbing corrected the system has performed extremely well. I am happy to recommend them and plan to use them again for a new project.

Bob and the team from Amber installed installed an air-source heat pump to replace my mother-in-law's gas boiler, and also 18 solar panels and battery storage, so a big job overall. The installation went well, a couple of hiccups with delivery from suppliers were worked around, and I was very pleased with the quality of work. Fitting the solar panels to a roof with 100-year old clay tiles meant some careful work to fit the mounting hooks right, quite a few tiles didn't survive the process due to their age, but were replaced with matching ones without a word. Bob has been in the industry a long time, and is very happy to share his experience. The heat pump is efficient and very quiet, and my mother-in-law's bills have shrunk hugely, so she's very happy. Amber have also been very responsive attending to a couple of minor maintenance issues which have arisen since, so very happy with their service overall.

review written 6-7 weeks after installation. with all the mixed opinions you see about ASHP (air source heat pump), and the increasing amount of installers, it can be a minefield to get through all the information, we had a small number of companies give us a quote, and luckily I picked Amber Heating as one of them, Bob came around he was punctual and very polite and no question was too small and he spent a considerable amount of time explaining the how, what and when of it all. A date for the install was agreed and the team arrived on time, with various bits arriving as required, some were here before the start date, the job was completed within the time, it was neat and done as mess free and left as clean as could be expected. the heat pump worked first time and has continued to do so, giving the temperature required, with outdoor temperature as low as -5 overnight. we have had one bill from EDF and year on year that was £58 lower than before, seeing as we were frugal with our 2 night store heaters and electric generally, we are very pleased, not only has it saved money, it has given us a better living standard, each room is warm all the time with 24 hr hot water, if you have night store heating you know this is unheard of without supplementary heaters, at more cost. As a note I would say the equipment is tried and tested, the real difference is in the planning, layout and size of pipework and heat loss charts, and that is why we are very pleased we chose Amber Heating to do this job for us, and hopefully as pensioners are now better equipped for our future with rising energy prices.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know you’re properly qualified and certified to install heat pumps?

We are MCS‑certified and registered with an approved consumer protection/competent person scheme, which is essential for quality assurance and to access grants like the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS).

Can you tell me if a heat pump is actually suitable for my home?

We carry out a detailed home assessment, including property type, insulation levels, existing heating system and available outdoor space, to confirm whether a heat pump is a good fit.

What type and size of heat pump will you recommend for my property, and why?

We design the system using a heat‑loss calculation for your home, then match the correct kW size and model (for example, air‑source vs ground‑source) so it runs efficiently and reliably.

What will the full installation cost be, and what’s included in your quote?

Our fixed quote clearly lists the heat pump, cylinder, controls, labour, scaffolding (if needed), electrical work and any radiator or pipework upgrades, so you know exactly what you’re paying for.

Can you help me access government grants like the Boiler Upgrade Scheme?

Yes, as an MCS installer we can confirm your eligibility, apply for the BUS grant (worth up to £7,500) on your behalf and deduct it directly from your quote.

How much disruption should I expect during installation, and how long does it take?

A typical air‑source heat pump installation takes around 2–5 days, and we’ll agree locations for the indoor and outdoor units, manage any planning considerations and keep you informed each day.

Will I need to replace my radiators or upgrade anything else in my home?

After the heat‑loss survey, we’ll advise if any radiators, pipework, electrics or hot‑water cylinder need upgrading so the system can run efficiently at lower flow temperatures.

How noisy is the outdoor unit and where will it be installed?

Modern heat pumps are designed to be quiet and must meet UK noise regulations; we’ll position the unit to minimise any impact on you and your neighbours and comply with local planning rules.

What warranties, servicing and aftercare do you provide?

You’ll get manufacturer warranties on the heat pump plus our workmanship guarantee, and we offer ongoing servicing and support to keep your system performing at its best.

What running costs and savings can I realistically expect compared to my current boiler?

We’ll estimate your likely annual running costs and potential savings based on your current fuel type, insulation level and tariffs, using real‑world performance data rather than lab figures.
