Ed Sears designed and led the installation of our Air Source Heat Pump, Solar Thermal and PV system. I have been so impressed with the level of service and the quality of the installation. John Beardmore was a huge help on developing our home energy monitoring system and Paul Chandler installed our battery quickly and efficiently. They worked well with our on-site electricians, DNO, plumbers and scaffolder ensuring contracts were well integrated without any needless delays. If you go with T4 you are going to get really excellent engineers who care about what they are doing. Thank you all so much!

We are very happy with the PV installation we have received from Ed and the team. T4 were able to accommodate a design and install at relatively short notice so that we could take advantage of suitable scaffolding already in place for external wall insulation work. The survey was thorough and the quote was detailed and easy to understand. The team were able to work along side the other company working on the external insulation. It turned out my electrical earth bonding wasn't up to scratch but this was rectified really well. Even with this slight setback they were able complete the install in time for the scaffolding to come down on time. They even repositioned my TV areal to avoid birds messing on the panels. The install was finished neatly and no mess was left. The system was explained to me at the end and they help provided all the details I needed to apply for the Octopus Outgoing tariff. The system has been working well all summer and I have received my first payment back from Octopus Outgoing. Thank you T4 and I will be back in touch in a few years If I can save some pennies to add on battery storage.

T4 installed a set of photovoltaic panels on our roof. It was a far from straightforward job and took longer than expected, but Paul and the team did a great job and were helpful and friendly with good communication throughout.

I have had a working relationship with T4 since around 2010 for items including solar thermal overhaul, log boiler overhaul and maintenance and heating and hot water maintenance. I have always been very happy with their level of service and conscientiousness in everything they do. They are very dependable and I'm proud to call them my go-to partner for renewable heat.

I contacted T4 in november 22 and left a message. No call back. Contacted them again a few times (should have seen the signs) and eventually got through to John Beardsmore. He is very knowledgeable and polite. Discussed with him my needs and said he would make an appointment. A few calls and messages later (nothing). Finally got him in mid Feb with numerous apologies due to workload. He visited in March and we discussed my needs. John said he would put a quote together. Again numerous calls and messages (nothing). Managed to get him again in late April - again apologies due to workload and excuses for no quote. I politely mentioned its dragging on - again apologies and promises something would be put together soon. Again nothing. Come June 23 and a few messages to say something would be put together in the next days - guess what nothing. Sadly a total waste of time and effort since I explained from the off I wanted a system installing ASAP. So 8 months wasted. Sure way to lose customers.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know you’re properly qualified and certified to install heat pumps?

We are MCS‑certified and registered with an approved consumer protection/competent person scheme, which is essential for quality assurance and to access grants like the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS).

Can you tell me if a heat pump is actually suitable for my home?

We carry out a detailed home assessment, including property type, insulation levels, existing heating system and available outdoor space, to confirm whether a heat pump is a good fit.

What type and size of heat pump will you recommend for my property, and why?

We design the system using a heat‑loss calculation for your home, then match the correct kW size and model (for example, air‑source vs ground‑source) so it runs efficiently and reliably.

What will the full installation cost be, and what’s included in your quote?

Our fixed quote clearly lists the heat pump, cylinder, controls, labour, scaffolding (if needed), electrical work and any radiator or pipework upgrades, so you know exactly what you’re paying for.

Can you help me access government grants like the Boiler Upgrade Scheme?

Yes, as an MCS installer we can confirm your eligibility, apply for the BUS grant (worth up to £7,500) on your behalf and deduct it directly from your quote.

How much disruption should I expect during installation, and how long does it take?

A typical air‑source heat pump installation takes around 2–5 days, and we’ll agree locations for the indoor and outdoor units, manage any planning considerations and keep you informed each day.

Will I need to replace my radiators or upgrade anything else in my home?

After the heat‑loss survey, we’ll advise if any radiators, pipework, electrics or hot‑water cylinder need upgrading so the system can run efficiently at lower flow temperatures.

How noisy is the outdoor unit and where will it be installed?

Modern heat pumps are designed to be quiet and must meet UK noise regulations; we’ll position the unit to minimise any impact on you and your neighbours and comply with local planning rules.

What warranties, servicing and aftercare do you provide?

You’ll get manufacturer warranties on the heat pump plus our workmanship guarantee, and we offer ongoing servicing and support to keep your system performing at its best.

What running costs and savings can I realistically expect compared to my current boiler?

We’ll estimate your likely annual running costs and potential savings based on your current fuel type, insulation level and tariffs, using real‑world performance data rather than lab figures.
