Three years ago Dan Grace and his team installed our solar panels which all worked beautifully. The work undertaken was done very professionally and completed on time. A year later we requested another storage battery which Dan organized for us and was completed very soon afterwards. Our current contact to Dan was that internet provider had changed our router and we needed the new number connected to the datalogger. As before Dan arranged to come out and get us reconnected very quickly. My husband and I have very happily passed on our recommendation to anyone wanting solar pane installed to consider Thrift Energy if living in the Cambridgeshire area.

Thrift Energy installed our ASHP and solar panels after another contractor let us down. Everyone I spoke to was friendly, helpful and expert at what they did. They arranged a survey quickly and arranged a fitting date within a week of the survey. The guys who fitted out ASHP system were lovely to have in the house and did a brilliant job, keeping us in the loop with what they were doing and checking with us before making aesthetic decisions to ensure we were happy with the changes to our radiators etc. The team who installed our solar panels were also excellent: really fun and considerate, and they did a brilliant job. Dan who project managed the lot was great to deal with. We have had the ASHP and solar panels working for two months now and they work perfectly with no issues. I would happily recommend Thrift Energy to anyone looking to fit energy saving measures to their home.

We contacted the Cambridge branch to install Solar panels to our house that we recently bought. The team is brilliant. Daniel Grace and his team did a fantastic job and they completed the installation in a timely fashion. Thanks team Dan!

Thrift installed Solar panels under a home impovement grant - did not turn up on the day agreed (laughed at me when I chased it and treated me like dirt), scaffolding was left for FIVE WEEKS after the installation was done, causing water ingress into the house and damage to the roof. Wiring installation melted and smoked, taking out our heating and hot water on the coldest week of 2024. When attempting to escalate issues their 'Manager' Daniel did not respond to multiple emails and phonecalls over at least 6 weeks. Daniel also blatantly lie about my 'agreeing to change the date' when no-one ever called me. Certificates including how to even use the installation, warranty etc took months to arrive even after chasing multiple times. Now I am stuck in a constant email chain trying to get compensation for the work I had to pay other people for to put all this right. Awful AWFUL!! Please folks read the other reviews and avoid these people like the plague.

Great company and would 100% recommend. You deal with several people through the process and all were excellent but a special mention to Will (installation team) who was just brilliant. He is someone who obviously cares and was excellent in all aspects and in particular communicating with us. Neil (sales team) was also good. There were no high pressure sales and just a pleasure to deal with.

We are MCS‑certified and registered with an approved consumer protection/competent person scheme, which is essential for quality assurance and to access grants like the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS).
We carry out a detailed home assessment, including property type, insulation levels, existing heating system and available outdoor space, to confirm whether a heat pump is a good fit.
We design the system using a heat‑loss calculation for your home, then match the correct kW size and model (for example, air‑source vs ground‑source) so it runs efficiently and reliably.
Our fixed quote clearly lists the heat pump, cylinder, controls, labour, scaffolding (if needed), electrical work and any radiator or pipework upgrades, so you know exactly what you’re paying for.
Yes, as an MCS installer we can confirm your eligibility, apply for the BUS grant (worth up to £7,500) on your behalf and deduct it directly from your quote.
A typical air‑source heat pump installation takes around 2–5 days, and we’ll agree locations for the indoor and outdoor units, manage any planning considerations and keep you informed each day.
After the heat‑loss survey, we’ll advise if any radiators, pipework, electrics or hot‑water cylinder need upgrading so the system can run efficiently at lower flow temperatures.
Modern heat pumps are designed to be quiet and must meet UK noise regulations; we’ll position the unit to minimise any impact on you and your neighbours and comply with local planning rules.
You’ll get manufacturer warranties on the heat pump plus our workmanship guarantee, and we offer ongoing servicing and support to keep your system performing at its best.
We’ll estimate your likely annual running costs and potential savings based on your current fuel type, insulation level and tariffs, using real‑world performance data rather than lab figures.
